Job Title
Goldsmith
Role Summary
Seeking a goldsmith to provide repair services and custom jewelry work. Potential goldsmith candidates will also be expected to assist customers on the selling floor as business needs dictate during heavy customer traffic times such as special events and holidays.
Job Responsibilities
- Set diamonds and colored gems stones
- Perform repairs on broken chains and bracelets
- Size customer rings, re-tip prongs, replace half shanks
- Assess jewelry brought in for repair to determine the extent of repair needed
- Assist customers in planning and implementing design for custom jewelry.
- Maintain a control log for jewelry that is outsourced to repair vendors
- Provide backup assistance on the selling floor as needed
- Attend training sessions as required to develop relevant knowledge, skills, and techniques
Qualifications/Requirements
- Proficient torch welding skills
- Laser welder experience (proficiency is a plus)
- Demonstrated high quality workmanship
- Present a professional image suitable to the jewelry store environment, through appropriate dress and communication style
- Ability and willingness to work Saturdays as needed
- Ability and willingness to work flexible hours/days during holidays, store promotions, events, etc. as business needs dictate.
- Ability and willingness to work as a positive force in a small business team environment
- Own your basic hand tools
Other Desired Qualities
- High standard of honesty and integrity
- Willingness to learn new techniques through formal and informal training
- CAD design experience is a plus, but not required
- Knowledge of The Edge is a plus, but not required
